Bizarre 217, August 2014
On sale 1 July
In May Blackthorn Communications was devastated to hear that the Swiss surrealist, HR Giger, had passed away.
More than any other artist, Giger’s dark work has been part of Bizarre‘s DNA for over 15 years, and he’s regularly been namechecked by our readers as a towering inspiration.
To pay tribute to HR Giger’s life and work, Bizarre 217 reproduces key sections from the exclusive interview he gave Blackthorn Communications in 2012, where the master of darkness answered questions supplied via the Bizarre Facebook page.
As a tribute to an artist whose work touched everyone who reads Bizarre, we think it’s a fitting tribute to HR Giger’s stunning paintings and fascinating life.
Elsewhere in Bizarre 217 you’ll find a feature looking back at 30 years of Re-Animator – one of the most influential horror movies of the 1980s – a report on a US artist who creates confrontational art using Barbie dolls, and an exclusive interview with the mysterious Gimp Man Of Essex, who raises money for charity by making surprise appearances in city centres, dressed from head-to-toe in squeaky rubber gear!
